A Change of Heart

At the moment of death, there are two things that count: whatever we have done in our lives, and what state of mind we are in at that very moment. Even if we have accumulated a lot of negative karma, if we are able to make a real change of heart at the moment of death, it can decisively influence our future, and transform our karma, for the moment of death is an exceptionally powerful opportunity to purify karma.

Dear Venerable Wu Ling ,

I am happy to come across venerable's blog for the first time and would like to express myself and put up a comment or two.

I have been watching venerable's vcd for some time and there is one quote that I think we should put in mind. That is " what we think , speak and do " shall contribute to the cause and effect cycle.
I find that we can somehow with great concentration be able to control our speech and what we do but it is the THOUGHT that is hard to control. Even minor bad thoughts will arise even though we are able to control our speach and action.

I know that by chanting amithaba and with the buddha's power , we can by concentration of our mind , vowed to go to pureland.

I have the belief , and I had vowed to go to pureland but it is the practical effort that I lack in chanting is due to my LAZINESS....and even though I know its a hinder to my cultivation.

I hope venerable master will be able to help me in overcoming my laziness factor.

Thank you

Amitoufu

Chee, you have asked a very good question! Since it has also been raised by others, I feel it warrants a blog entry. Please see the entry for November 29th. Amituofo, and thank you!
