Amituofo, Amituofo, Amituofo

Venerable Wuling in Compassion, Meditation

When we see the suffering of other beings, when we want to step in to alter what is happening but know it is already too late; whether in life or after death, there still is a way to help. We can chant "Amituofo, Amituofo, Amituofo..."

"Amituofo" is the wish that those who suffer may soon find liberation from their pain.

It is the regret that ill-fated causes and conditions lead to such a difficult life.

It is the realization that it could just have easily been us in their place.

The sadness that past mistakes cannot be undone.

The hope that the future will be happier.

The realization that we can make it so.
